New York City, The New York Piano Society, Inc. is a non-profit organization, founded by pianist Elena Leonova in 2005 and presented its first concert in June, 2006. It is dedicated to discovering and nurturing talented performers whose primary professions lie outside the field of music performance. The primary objective of The New York Piano Society is to establish a venue to enable amateurs to perform publicly. The performers are chosen through an audition process held regularly. The most important criteria for induction is a readiness for public performance evaluated by professionals. NYPS is presenting concert programs which are enthusiastically received by a wide variety of concert goers as well as by a newly immersing lovers of classical music. NYPS is comprised of people of varying vocations and ages, brought together by a shared experience that is founded simply on their love for the instrument and classical music. Scientists, journalists, medical doctors and lawyers, an airline pilot, graphic artists, financial anlysts and secretaries among our members. NYPS provides a nourishing environment through recitals and special events with the prominent concert artists.In the past seasons the list of distinguished guests musicians included the legendary pianist Byron Janis, renowned flutist Carol Wincenc as well as many noted established concert musicians, instrumentalists, vocalists and professors of Juilliard, Mannes College, Manhattan Schools of music and other leading musical institutions in the country.
Under the dynamic and visionary direction of its founder and Artistic Direction, pianist Elena Leonova, New York Piano Society presents numerous exciting concerts and special events with guest- artists at the Weill Recital Hall / Carnegie Hall, Baruch Performing Arts Center, Hunter College, Concert Hall of the German Consulate, Steinway Hall, Liederkranz Hall in New York City and Lenfell Hall of the Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey.The New York Piano Society is also offering monthly NYPS's Gatherings at the Kaufman Cultural Center in Manhattan.
NYPS is non-profit , 501c3 corporation. It is supported by private tax deductible contributions from people or organizations who believe in giving performance opportunities and exposure to amateur artists.
