New York Piano Society to Present Gala Benefit Concert at Carnegie Hall


NEW YORK, January 2011

New York Piano Society will hold a Gala Benefit Concert at Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall on Saturday March 5th, 2011 at 8 pm, featuring members of NYPS with guest artists.

NYPS' mission is to present performance opportunities for outstanding artists who have established careers in fields other than music. Their life stories are most fascinating and unique in addition to their considerable professional achievements. The performers will include Len Horovitz, one of Manhattan's most prominent physicians who was born with two thumbs on one hand, Deanna Lee, eight-time Emmy Award-winning TV producer and current New York Public Library Vice President, John Berkstresser, Senior 777 Pilot for Continental Airlines, Alok Dutt, Wall Street Director and Mathematics PhD, Shelley Hartman, real estate investor and international trader, Matthew Auerbach, a young biologist working for the USDA, Robin Green, prominent attorney from Dallas with the New York Premiere of "Three Preludes" by Texan composer, Kent Kennan. NYPS will be presenting guest artist 13-year-old violinist, Hana Mundiya, who recently made her debut with the New York Philharmonic. Guest violinist Juliana Pereira, and cellist Robert Jacobs will be featured in a performance of a Beethoven Piano Trio.

The program will include works by Handel, Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, Debussy, Poulenc and Liszt.
